Conray Wilbur Marcus Youth Development is a Western Cape-based initiative founded and led by Conray Marcus, dedicated to empowering disadvantaged youth through career exhibitions and career clubs. The organisation is proud to be patroned by Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman, founder of Gift of the Givers — South Africa's largest disaster response and humanitarian organisation. Conray founded the organisation to close the gap between young people's potential and their access to opportunity — connecting Grade 11 and 12 learners, as well as out-of-school and unemployed youth, with the career guidance, bursary information and mentorship they need to plan a path toward further study or employment. Through large-scale Career Exhibitions bringing together universities, colleges, banks, government departments and corporates, and smaller, ongoing Career Clubs run by professional mentors, the organisation is building a growing network of partnerships across the education, government and private sectors — helping young people think positively and plan for success.
Primary Audience
Grade 11 & 12 learners
Secondary Audience
Out-of-school and unemployed youth in urban and rural areas of the Western Cape
Our Mission
To engage Grade 11 & 12 learners and unemployed youth with career guidance, bursary information and mentorship — building partnerships with schools, government and institutions, and encouraging young people to think positively and plan for success.
Our Vision
To create self-reliant, positive, goal-oriented and productive youth who contribute meaningfully to society and the economy.
What guides every programme we run
Education First
We treat access to quality education as the foundation every other outcome is built on.
Integrity
We do what we say we'll do — with the youth we serve, our partners and our donors.
Ubuntu
"I am because we are." Community upliftment sits at the centre of every programme we run.
Excellence
We hold high standards for our programmes and encourage every young person we work with to do the same.
Empowerment
We equip young people to lead their own growth rather than creating dependency.
Accountability
We measure what matters and report transparently on the impact of every programme.
